Dr. Kristin Braga, DVM

March 22nd, 2013

A native of Rhode Island, Dr. Braga is the proud owner of Island Veterinary Services, Inc. Dr. Braga graduated from Mt. Holyoke College in 1994, then earned her Veterinary Degree from Tufts University in 1998. Since graduation, she has been providing medical care for small animals. From 1998-2001, she worked as an Associate and Relief Veterinarian in various hospitals throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. In 2001, Island Veterinary Services became incorporated and was originally an exclusive small animal mobile practice until November 2004 when it found a permanent location on East Main Road in Portsmouth. Dr. Braga enjoys being a solo practitioner as she feels she can provide more personalized care to her clients and patients in a warm, friendly environment. Dr. Braga is a member of AVMA, RIVMA, MVMA, and was named as one of the topVets in Rhode Island Monthly in 2012 and 2013. She is also certified to treat animals with the Class IV Therapeutic K-Laser. In her spare time, Dr. Braga enjoys pilates, going to the beach and spending time with her husband and her Golden Retriever, Cameron.

In 1999 my husband and I purchased a summer home in Portsmouth. Along with our 3 dogs we felt it important to find a local veterinarian as a secondary source for our animal care or emergencies while in Portsmouth, with the intention of keeping our veterinarian in the Boston area. We had been with our veterinarian for 17 years and very happy with the care our animals got over the years.

Within a short period we realized the care we got from Dr. Braga and her outstanding team was far superior than our Boston Vet. We were no longer just a number, Dr. Braga’s personal care along with her knowledge of veterinarian medicine, made the easy choice as animal lovers to see we would get superior care with The Island Vet office.

Over the years Dr. Braga and her team have taken care of our difficult decisions with great compassion and has kept our current 4 dogs ages 3 to 15 in great health. My husband and I now have piece of mind that we made the right decision.

Our Boston veterinarian is now our secondary vet.
